It's raining here in SoCal today with the snow level possibly down to 4,000 feet and rain is also forecast for tomorrow. We may have that picturesque snow-covered San Gabriel mountains backdrop we usually see for the Winternationals.
The weather forecast for the Finals is sunny all three days with a high of 67F on Friday, 69F on Saturday and 70F on Sunday. Should make for both a quick and fast track.
I'll be there for Friday qualifying getting my final "nitro fix" of 2022.

Congrats to both 'alsant' (FBBO) and 'TT5.9mag' (FABO) for sharing the Top Qualifier title at the NHRA Finals, the final event of the 2022 NHRA season, with 29.5 bonus points each. They took different roads to get to the same place. 'alsant' (FBBO) picked the #1 qualifier in both Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle, the #3 qualifier in Funny Car and the #4 qualifier in Pro Stock. With all the schedule changes for 2023 at season opening I had to check to see if The March Meet at Famoso had been effected. For many years it was the weekend after The Winternationals. In '23 the season opening Gators are the week following The March Meet.

Blast from the past.
I turn on the World Finals today and find this youngster in her "tribute" car to her late father Bobby Baldwin qualified for TF.
I worked with her dad on a couple of different jobs in the LA Basin when I was an apprentice.
He was an owner/operator water truck driver for the general contractor I worked for on some freeway construction jobs.
While I worked with him I never heard him mention he was a drag racer, let alone a TF racer.
I lost touch with him when I was transferred to this part of the state for another job.
A few years after that I'm reading my work partner's National Dragster and see Bobby's picture in it next to a TF car "Hey Jack! I knew this guy!"
"Oh yeah. That's Bobby Baldwin, outa LA, races TF part time."

Congratulations to 'Budnicks' (FBBO) for winning the 2022 NHRA Finals "Top Picker Eliminator" title with an outstanding total of 233.0 points. He picked the class winner in both Funny Car and Pro Stock, his Top Fuel pick lost in the final round of eliminations, and his Pro Stock Motorcycle pick lost in the semi-final round. He was helped with both ET bonus and Speed bonus points in Funny Car.
'64BEL' (FBBO) was the event runner-up with 194.5 points.
