i am thinking of swapping out a 225 for a 273 on my 1965 signet.

I have a automatic, floor console car.

The question is aside from either sapping the k frame or putting in the conversion mounts what else will i need to do. Can i keep the transmission? Will it be as easy as unbolting the six and bolting up the 8?

Hello shimsham1, Your slant trans will not bolt up to your V8 and then the drive shaft will need to be set up for the V8 trans yoke and shortened
I am sure there will be more help on the way :happy10:

Check all the recent threads on the same conversion for details. The K-member is the same.....it's all the other parts that will cost you!

First question for the OP.

The /6 uses a 904 or 727?
Get the same tranny for the V8, this stops cutting the driveshaft when you go from a 904 to a 727. If it is a 727 to a 904, you'll need to lengthin the trans driveshaft.

You'll also need some wire cutter/stripers and some shrink wrap to cover the solder on the reconnected shortened/lengthend wires.
