225 head on a 170 block

Can anyone tell me if a 225 head will fit on a 170 block, got bad news from the machine shop so looking g or other options

The heads will interchange. There is a hyd head for later motors, but any flat tappet rocker arm head will fit.

Ok thank you. The only concern I have is I have a 65 block. Is there a year rang I should look for?

60-76 that I know for sure. I think the hyd heads were 80's. Check this post for some casting numbers:

'81 or '82 is when they made the switch to hydraulic, if I remember right.

60 head wont have the alternator bolt boss on top. Other than that all solid lifter heads will fit with a 68+ head having a better combustion chamber design.
