I have a 65 plymouth barracuda formula s. Idk if whether or not I'm gonna keep the 273, but if I do, I'd like to fuel inject it. The problem is, I've only found systems that require either 340 or 360 heads. I don't really wanna use those heads on the motor because Ik there's issues with using them and modifications would be needed. Does anyone know if there's a system that doesn't require those heads?

What about FAST, Atomic, Profession Products, etc. I realize they are throttle body FI but seems they ought to work on your 273 without using 340/360 heads

I'm curious as to what system your using, and especially why it gives a damn about the heads.

Thanks Dartman, I'll check those out, and right now it's a 273 commando with a Carter carb and edelbrock intake. I haven't bought anything yet, just getting ideas. The system I looked at was from edelbrock. Why it matters I have no idea

Some of them aren't as tuneable as others for example.

The Rochester TBI system is cheap, easily adaptable, cheap, hackable, cheap, readily available, cheap, bulletproof, cheap, supports up to 300 hp, cheap, reliable, cheap, simple, cheap, inexpensive, and cheap.

The late model injection systems should work fine on a 273. Make sure you get a small injector. I would suggest a 2 barrel model or a small 4 barrel set up like the Holley 550-400.

I had the old style analog system on a tool truck years ago. It was a non feedback system (no oxygen sensor) and had a control box with individual adjustments for choke, idle, acceleration, and cruise. It worked well. I don't think they even make them anymore but have been replaced with the self tuning models. How many here at FABO have tried the new ones and how did they work? tmm

I like megasquirt but it's so universal there isn't a how-to for any car. You have to learn the code or pay someone to tune it. But it would likely be the cheapest and most tunable program you can get.

they do have some sample builds somewhere on their website. whatever the new software is called, the software is "self tuning" to some extent.
