You're on the right track. I replaced my worn out original Carter with a 600 Edelbrock. I had the machine shop enlarge the secodary holes on the intake so the secondary butterflys would fully open during wide oen throttle. It also has a electric choke wich works well. In the spirit of originality, the original dual point works well. You can also add a Pertronix to your dual point, slip in a single point with or without a Pertronix, or any one of the electronic kits including the Mopar units.
