I am wondering if anyone is running 3.55's in a 7 1/4 rear end? Has anyone made the swap from the original gears to the 3.55 and if so what brand gears do you recommend? I realize that a swap to an 8 3/4 would be ideal but that may not be in the cards right now.

I am pretty sure you cannot buy new gears for a 7.25 rear.

Summit has them and there's a company on eBay.

I had found a set of 3.55's on Jegs for the Chrysler 9-bolt rear. I believe that is what is in my car, but I haven't looked lately. One of my concerns was I could not find a master install kit to go with the gear set.

I have a 7 1/4 with 355's. Car is a Dart GT with 325 HP 318 with 904 and shift kit. The rear was in the car when I got it. I figured I would be going for 8 1/4 or 8 3/4 but this one is still hanging in. Mostly driven on the streed but has been to the strip a few times.

I had 3.55 in my 7.25 which i purchased from rock Auto originally 323s which were worn out.Diff place who did my ring & pinion did such a poor job i ended up scrapping it and had a ford 8 inch built with an 4 pinion LSD,28 spline 3.45 disc brake rear.Have never looked back.
