3 bolt timing gear set recommendations?

-

@MOPARMAGA says all timing chains are junk.

He says more key ways more junky.

Just an FYI
Yep, as soon as I can I'm buying a milodon gear drive for my 471.
Both my cloyes sets have something wrong.
I think it's the dowel hole in the top sprocket.
Straight up and 2 degrees, advanced or retarded are very close to perfect but 4 degrees either way jumped to 6 degrees.
Both sets, 2021 and 2022.
Both are pretty loose for 20 Dyno pulls each.

Apparently Hughes sells one from pro gear it has adjustments on the cam as well $240.00 though.
For a chain

Romac rollmaster with a thrust bearing on the back I've had 3 of them and they have always been bang on in respect to keyway positioning.

IWIS chain

their dampers are pretty good as well

no idea if you still have a Romac agent/distributor in the US

And it’s still garbage. In 20 minutes the gears will start wearing, the chain starts stretching and the timing starts moving around.

Junk is junk at any price.

The original Rollmaster stuff was made in Queensland, Aust. JP also made TC sets & they were/are in Sth Australia. In my opinion, the JP stuff was not as well made. The owner of RM sold the business to JP a few years ago..

A vouch for Rollmaster timing sets. Very good quality, I only get the 9 key way version. For chains IWIS or Rolon.

Valman,
I have a Rolon chain that you can have for FREE! One side of the link says Rolon, other side says India....

The original Rollmaster sprockets were made from hard steel, but not hardened. After only a few 000 miles, you could see the teeth started to get a 'hook' shape.
I believe the latest TC sets have the sprockets induction hardened.

Haha, wow i didn’t know they were made there now. I haven’t bought one for a while, I remember they were UK made. The IWIS are German made IIRC??
