I'm here
My thought is if I do a countdown, it will help me find the moments needed to make some changes and get this to the track. Really, I'm using this thread as self-motivation, holding myself accountable.
I'm determined to get a pass before track closes, and I'm determined to make it a 12 second pass. My schedule for the next 30 days is full already, but I got to find a couple minutes to make a difference. Enough to go 12's, even a 12.99 LOL.
  • 1980 D150 Long bed
  • 200,000 mile 5.9 (never even pulled the oil pan) with Hughes valve springs and oregon regrind cam
  • 727 I got for free, never pulled the pan on that either. Hughes converter.
  • 8.75 with 4.30's. 29" slicks.

I will post every day as a countdown... something done or not. I really want this to happen, I'm excited for it. This thread will keep it in front of me. When a guy is busy, it's easy for things to fall between the cracks and soon it's "next year".

Nice truck!

Take out the passenger seat and open the top of the air cleaner (factory air cleaner) and with those specs…. Don’t be surprised that the track officials tell you that a full cage is needed!

You can do this!

It's got the factory bench seat, won't need a roll bar till 11.49 (someday I will need one... :) _). I do have helmet in hand, and this will be the last season as it falls out of date. I'll order a new one this winter.

I filed a “12” with a 8.200 in the 1/8th. Some conversion scales don’t agree that is enough.

I recommend some weight in the back. Where is/are the gas tanks in that? Leave the spare under there too if you can’t get traction. I know you know snow and pickups! They can really suck!

Good luck

I've gone 12's also with 8.2's. Pickup will fall off just a tad with the wind resistance, so I hope for a 8.15 in the 1/8, that should net me a 12 - something. Gas tank is in the original location. No spare or jack. Once I take weight out, it's awful hard for me to put it back... lol.

If ya had a couple 1997 -01 Dakota bucket seats that would be a drastic weight loss.

Good luck, it looks like you atleast have 2 rooting for you way over in Washington State

Good luck! I've been seeing your content on Youtube since you started I think. Great stuff! Looking forward to seeing this if you film it :)

29 days and counting... to run 12's....
Got something done! I found a very small window of time today... so I looked and found one of my drive shaft loops. And I got it installed.

A 12.99 is still a 12 second pass. Get out there and git er done. This week I measured for wheels and bought drag radials. Because having a 15 second truck with the power to go 12s sucks ***.

Absolutely! This thread is so I report everyday whether I get something done or not, hold'n my hands to the fire. It's either this month or next April.... lol

Added weight? .
Only YOU!!!! Well, except it ran through my head too. How much fuel do you have to run in the truck to have it pull all the way? 6ish lbs a gallon. I went from 11 gallons down to 2-3 with the small Holley Hydramat cross.
