318 head milling question

hey everyone,
i got a pair of 302's that i want to resurface\mill,just wondering whats safe to cut with out having to shorten pushrod length? stock 318 with a small summit cam, 4 bbl intake dual exhaust....thanks

It all depends on the head flatness now and how much to clean it up. Your machine shop and the heads decides how much. #302's are already a small closed chamber. You don't need to go too much.

Here’s one that’s .060 out of the box. It’s listed for a magnum but also works on an LA and has a 4.060 bore. This would allow up to a .020 cut compared to the typical .040 thick stock replacement gaskets.
