I dunno man...I saw a 383 in a B body popping out of carb, and it turned out to be a valvetrain issue...rocker arm fell off pushrod...not shaft mounted. Ill never know what folks problem is with the shaft mount rocker arm system...rule of thumb,..poping out the carb is a ignition issue,..poping out the pipes is a carburation issue! but id pull valve covers and check for a whipped lobe or a bent push rod,...rocker arm issue!
re read my last line.... gotta get fuel in before it can be burnt (air-fuel-spark)I dunno man...I saw a 383 in a B body popping out of carb, and it turned out to be a valvetrain issue...rocker arm fell off pushrod...not shaft mounted. also said pull valve covers an check erry thing indamcluding rocker arm,...bet you got a dead horse beat all too hell somwheres...jesus h christThe 383 I mentioned had a rocker off an exhaust valve. The fuel was getting in
and combustion was happening... exhaust was coming out the intake valve the
next time it opened and popping through the carb. Purely a mechanical issue. If
I recall correctly you posted that carb popping was "ignition" which would imply
electrical. Which isn't always the case. that is what I was pointing out. Things
aren't always plugs and wires, you have to pull a valve cover and check and see if
a cam lobe is wiped out sometimes. I say this because I listened to the guys
engine saw how much pressure was coming out of the carb when it backfired and
said "that's valvetrain, pop a valve cover off..."
