Maybe I am stupid lol but I can't figure out how to pull my timing chain on my 318.
I was trying that and couldn't get it... but I finally got it late last night... When all else fails, use a 2x4 and a chevy tool (Hammer) lol. I ran into another problem though, when torquing the main crankshaft bearings down, I broke one of the mounts... DAMN lol, now I am on the search for a replacement part.Once you have the Dampner and cover off they just slide off. I used a little pry bar and pushed them off by moving them a little at a time and keeping them. Move one and then the other so they come off together.

You broke a main cap?? Never saw that happen in 30 yrs. of wrenching. Must have had a object under it. You've created a huge problem there cause main caps are specific to the engine because they are align honed as a unit. You can't just slap a main cap from another engine on it and expect things to be straight.

So I would have to take an entire crank from another engine?
