318 timming?

hello,

I have an issue,Ineed to install timming gear and chain.
most info states you must line up the dot on crank gear,
and dot on cam gear. I don't have a dot on the cam gear.
There is a 1, an s,and b23. any help would be great.

Is this one you bought new? Take the thing back and get a different one, or lay it down against one which is marked and mark this one.

Does it have more than one keyway? You sure you are looking at the correct side?

no it was on the car.I was not smart enough to check it out before removing it.

I was looking on the wrong side. there is a small stamped dot there.
