Anyone using 318 Icon 845 dome pistons with aftermarket heads Edelbrock/Speedmaster or such and did the domes need machining to work , or am I better off with my ported #714 castings

Haven't put them back together just finished home porting them and I'm no expert but will bring them to my builder soon and get them inspected and put back together. Looking for other options since I have new Scat I beams and Icon 845s sitting in the box waiting to get the bottom end together soon too
Well, head chore for power is all about port flow. Once your flow report comes back you can compare them to what the other heads offer vs the work you did and the price they cost.
I wouldn’t use a OOTB Speedmaster head if you paid me…. Well, maybe…. But I doubt it. If you know what your doing when porting a head, in particular a Speedmaster head, you can go very far with it.
