...what's the going rate for a 340 block and caps in your area?
or a complete 340 needing a rebuild?
lookin' at a couple...wondering what's a good price?

Uh....yeah. That's a smokin' deal right there. Around here, I see them anywhere from 500 up, I contacted one dude and he wanted 3000.00 bucks for a complete unmolested 340. Um...no thanks.

I wouldn't balk too much at around 500 or maybe a tad less.

360's around here bring 3 to 4 hundred all day.

The problem is that most of the 340 blocks out there are .040" or .060" overbored and not much meat left for another machine job...

FSM recommmends .040" max overbore, some people like to push to .060"... After that who knows if they will hold up...

Or your other option is to sleeve it....

But why do that when you can get a 360 much cheaper...

$300 on a good block is a good deal these days. One that has not been overly bored, not all rusty, and the lifter bores not too worn; $400 or more is often being asked.

I gave $500 buck for a bare block.
And spent $1800 buck on machine it long

I have a 1971 340 forged crank and block, with the maincaps and bolts for a windage tray. I also have 6 of the rods and pistons I'll sell for $250.00 plus shipping if anyone's interested. Crank needs turned, block is stock bore but needs bored.
