I just found a 340 short block # 2780930-340-2. It has a small chip
at the bottom of the cylinder about 1/2" by 3/4". The crank looks good and the bores look smooth. It is 30 over. Can it be fixed? He wants $300.
But his dad said he would take $250. Can you tell what year by the #s and is $ 250. A good deal?
Thanks stan

$300, already 30 over, chipped block.Id prolly pass. There not THAT hard to find.

The chip block may have came from a thrown rod at one time.

Might not hurt anything thou.

It depends on how worn out the bores. If a .010 hone would clean it up, great

I wonder if a sleeve would take care of the problem.

if the chip is on the bottom of the cylinder...there is no water there....buy it...

i got one that is alot worst then that...busted two rods...two chunks of iron out of bottom of cylinder..

has ran a best of 11.03 @ 121....
