Can Anyone Tell What Year 360 I Have? The Numbers On The Block Are 006830-360-10 Also There Is A Large #6 On The Block. The Numbers On The Heads Are Aawj 360 Toward The Rear And 4077596 Near The Front.
Any Help Will Be Appreciated. Thanks Stan

I Thought Someone Would Know.

The block should be stamped just like the other numbers you see. Look at the other side of the block. Sometimes they are very hard to see. But should be there, take a wire brush to all the numbers and the year will be the last two digits in the series of numbers.

by this chart it narrows it down some.

1971-89 360
5.9
4.00
V-8 3418496 3870230 4045601 4179930 (( (4006830) )) 4315830 3418915 4071051 4027596 3870084 3671587 4343475 4323345 4343805 3418640

here is a link to the site. Really good for info if your willing to search for it.

head casting numbers for same years: 3418915 4071051 4027596 3870084 3671587 4343475 4323345 4343805

There should be a date cast into the passenger side of the block and a date code stamped into the front, drivers's side of the block just below the head gasket. The head number is for a late '70's engine.
Thanks, Mark

I Checked The Passenger Side # And It Is A 1978. Are The Heads Of That Year Good Ones For Making Moderate Power. I Would Like To End Up With Around 350 Hp At The Flywheel. Also I Liked The Cam In My 69 340 Barracuda With A 4 Speed. I Think I Remember That In 69 The 4 Speed Had A Different Cam Than The Auto. What Cam That I Can Buy Today Would Be Similar To It That Would Work With A 904? Also What Pistons Do I Need
To Get The Compression To 9.5 Or 10?
Thanks Stan
