383 / 4 speed A-Body ID Questions...

How can I tell if I have original 383 A-Body parts?

My trans has the A-Body shifter mounting pad, so I know that its an A-Body, plus it has the large 4.80 IBR.

The bellhousing is a 2892626 casting

The engine is not original, but I cannot find out any information on it. The casting number is 24488130-LL and date coded 11-10-64.

Any ideas???

Bill...the bell number decodes to a 1969 cast iron 11", B or C body 383/440.

Block 2488130...could it be 2468130? If so its 1959-71 383 . Check casting date on the block for your year.
