Toying with the idea of a B - body 383 air grabber air cleaner on a 440 under the hood of a 68 barracuda.

Has anyone used one in their A-body?

Does the drop base work with A FB style carb?

I currently have a 440 with CH4B and standard drop base air cleaner. I have to run a spacer to clear linkages but it fits under the hood. This is critical for me. It has to fit under the hood.

My son's Dart air cleaner. I shortened the neck about 3/4"... Some day we may finish the weld and smooth it out...440 with stock 67 intake and AVS.

The base for the 383 airgrabber is taller than the 440 so I think that the 440 one might fit without any modifications.

See the pictures I posted above. I borrowed a 440 base from a friend of mine and it hit the hood of my old 67 Dart with no gaskets in the engine (no head gaskets, no intake gasket, no carb gasket). The 440 unit is much harder to find and much more expensive. Since it still didn't fit, I cut down the neck on the 383 base. I had the ring welded back in because of the lip and locating tabs.
