383 vs 440 crank

What are the measurements or how can I tell them apart?

You have to get the measurements Of both cranks and a dial indacator

440 is bigger than 383

Yup, get a micrometer or caliper on the mains and see what they are. A 440 is 2.750" and a 383 is 2.625"
