390 gears

Does any one have any experience with 8.25 rear end & 390-1 gear ratio, how is it for the street & hiway ?...340 fairly stock.

Had an 8.75 rear with a set of 3:90's in my /6 Dart,and cruising around 70mph was not a problem at all !!!:cheers:

Thanks 6packattach, is an 8.25 sure grip rear end strong enough to handle 400hp?

The 8-1/4 is strong enough to handle 400 hp but a c-clip eliminator kit is really good to have. How a car drives with a particular gear is dependent on the tire size. If you have 28" tall tires with 3.90 gears it'll spin about 3100 at 60 mph. If you have 3.90 gears with 24-25" tall tires it'll spin a whole bunch more rpm.
