4-speed center console

What is the major difference between the manual and auto center consoles? Can an auto console be converted into a manual one? Most of the pics that I see of the two just make it seem like the manual one is just an auto without the guts or indicator plate. Is that the case?

The lower left side of the manual console is cut a little different. That opening is larger han automatics. There was a formed hardboard hump piece added, under the carpet similar to the floorpan hump being added.

If you were to convert to a TKO 5sp with the shifter in the middle I would think the auto unit would work.

The main body of the console is the same, the difference is the top plate and the 4spd has the additional fiber hump screwed to the cut out section for the carpet to attach to. You will need a 4spd console only shifter though.

This is mine after converting the automatic to a 4 speed. I have a very nice auto top plate you could use to convert if your interested. Thanks
