I have a 4 speed console I want to install in my 68 barracuda.
I will be using the factory Hurst shift handle. I am using a automatic console frame that I will copy the side cut out from the cracked 4 speed frame I have as a pattern.
My question is before I cut the side out of the auto console does anyone have the side cover available.
Mine is missing completely so I don't even have one to repair.
I also have a question concerning sealing up the tunnel. I would guess you have to use 2 rubber boots. 1 in the console top plate that I have. And a non console boot to the tunnel that I don't have. Hope someone that has been here before me can confirm I am on the right track.

Yes rocky that must be the boot I need. Too bad no one is making the side cover.
I guess I will see how it fits without cutting the side out.
Thanks for the link.

I have an original 69 4speed console I picked up sometime back, it has the original side cover on it, I can tell you it is not fancy at all. It actually looks like it is made of the same material as was typically used to make the rear package trays and door panels of the era, with carpet glued by contact cement. Mine is quite dried out and I considered reinforcing it with fiberglass/resin or using the original to make a mold and remaking one out of fiberglass/resin. Good luck.

Yup... ^^^ if you can borrow someones and draw an outline on construction paper then jigsaw one for yourself out of fiberboard and glue some carpet to it nobody would ever know.

MOPAR4me , do you have this cover installed or still loose. Hoping to maybe get enough info or pictures to make one or more. I can't be the only one missing this part.

I have it and it should be accessible. I do think 4spdragtop posted a good amt of pictures of it though with measurements. I see if I can find the thread.

So that's what its supposed to look like. Thanks again rocky.
Looks to be bowl shaped. I believe you fellas are right, probably not to difficult to make.

Let me know if you still need some measurements, mine is exactly the same as pictured in 4spdragtop's post. I went out to the garage right after my initial post to take a look, and noticed that it appeared to only have half the side cover backing support, so I hesitated to take/post pics until I did more research so as not to steer you wrong. But as I can see, this one looks the same, so all must have come with only the 1/4 hemisphere backing. Again, this was not very high end work done back then. I would say roughly, the hemisphere backing support piece is about the size of a softball. You may be able to use that as a mold and make a fiberglass/resin one. I must say I love what d55dave was able to do by using an auto console, but if you are looking for the original look, then I understand you preferring to attempt reproducing the side cover.

That's great. Were making some real progress here. Yes please some pictures next to a tape measure would work well for me.
This part has been a big ? for me. Guess I should have posted sooner.(I don't speak computer well)
I do want to make it appear as original. When I made my mind up to go with the console I really didn't know the difficulty finding original parts or the expense of the parts when you did find them. Took a while but I am nearly there. Thanks for the help.

I will up load them here also in a lil less size image.

Great pictures John. Thanks for making the effort to help.
