Would this engine bolt into a factory BB A-Body?

It is out of a 71 truck.

Is it the same engine as the early 413?

Bit thing is 8 bolt crankshaft and the heads are different. I dont think they make any good headers that will work with it. They are a low compression engine (probably around 7.5-1 or so) I about bought one a while ago to put in my wagon but you'll have a harder time getting some good pistons.

yeah it'll work. but you gotta make it a different motor from the block up. doesn't the water pump bolt to the heads? it does if it's a real industrial big block. the heads are SLAM different all the way around. gotta steel crank though. the short block has possibilities. I say go for it.

Can this 1971 - 413 that you want to put in your A body be compared to what is written below, if so go for it but if not, why would you

1961 and other early 60's - 413
Displacement, cid: 413
Fuel system: 2 x 4bbl.
Compression ratio: 13.5:1
Horsepower @ rpm: 420 @ 5400
Torque @ rpm: 470 @ 4400

420 HP with 2 4s on a crossram and 13.5 compression. Yeah, right.

Scampi, all my knowledge comes from years of experience but you can read about these things right here on the Internet, just google Allpar or 413 hp engines. Here's on sentence from Allpar - 1962 saw a new and highly unusual setup: the 413 Max Wedge, with two 4 barrel carburetors and two ram-air intake tubes crossing each other to gain an optimum length to produce an incredible (for 1962) 420 hp.

Try searching, you will find a world of information for the things you seem to be into

I would watch CL for a 400 or 440. Don't waste your time and money on a 413.

I think this is prolly the best idea. I believe unless you get into the shortblock, even a head swap to the car stuff will still leave you with a low compression truck engine. I vaguely remember some of the industrial engines having a crank that stuck out farther than a passenger car crank, in addition to the 8 bolt flange. Could you put a straight edge across the back of the block, and measure to the flange so we could compare?

if it's really cheap get it for the crank, some of them where hard chromed. if the flange is too long just make a spacer. that's what i did for my "brc" crank.

Oh I am very familiar with um, dude. I know somebody WITH one. LOL I was sayin "yeah right" that ALL they're rated at is 420 HP. LOL

This is an industrial engine, as mentioned. Dont waste your time on it. Crank is wrong, heads are prob different, etc. You could use the block as a core maybe, but that's it.

Bought a 440 out of a 71 New Yorker a bunch of years ago and turns out that, it was an indusrial engine. When I took a sonic tester too it, found out that it was a much heavier casting. A friend has been using it in a Max Wedge Racer and it seems to be a more stable block, with all the extra beef, it carries.

neighbor built a 413 into a 426 clone of course, worked good but he spent more then a 440 to build it and had to have it custom machined. yupp yours looks like a motor home engine thats industrial. say why would chrysler make the industrial engine lower compression? usually they work harder and pull more weight

Yes,w/heads, intake, pushrods,waterpump housing,and bb mounts for your k-member.

Need to get a different oil pan also I think, trucks are front sump, A-body's rear sump.

1965 413. I like them because 413 sounds badass and its unusual..........not often scene in cars. Plus they have cool engine/valve cover stickers "Max Wedge 413":read2:
