42RE question

I have a friend with a 77 Aspen with a 360 magnum & multi plug 42RE trans. Can I make his Over drive work with a rocker switch? I've done this with a three prong type, but a multi prong type. Any help greatly welcome. Thanks ALrayer:

No. The 42RE (E stands for electronic shift) shifting is a controlled by the computer. The older 42RH (H stands for Hydraulic shift) can be made to work with a switch but not a RE trans

as fishy said...you need the 42RH....about a 95 and older ...
