440 starter

Hi what type of starter are you all using for your 440.I would like to get a mini starter and heard that a dodge dakota starter would fit..Any advice?

I use the factory 1.8 HP starter, spins 13:1 compression over like a breeze.

Mini starter from Dakota is totally worth it - even a used one from wrecking yard.

We use the jegs starter and it works great.

Yard starter off a later model V6 or V8...much cheaper than Jegs, kicked over my 451 no problem. There are 2-3 sizes, the longer the case for the motor windings, the more HP they have if you see a difference in a few out there.

I just replaced my ebay cheapo-mini starter yesterday with a mini starter from a dodge dakota, it was very easy to do. I was surprised at how simple it was, no interference to remove or any issues with the swap!
