I was asked to give some information about the 451/400 we used as a dyno mule to test out our 901 SuperFlow dyno.

This was a 400 based stroker with a 440 crank turned down to 400 mains.

Scat 6.76" rods
Forged Ross Flat tops
Ported 906 heads
9.5:1 compression
M1 single plane
850 Mighty Demon
Erson solid roller 254/259 @ .050 .400" lobe lift
Harland Sharp rockers

RPM................TQ...............HP

3000..............353..............202
3500..............442..............294
4000..............498..............379
4500..............521..............446
5000..............517..............493
5500..............518..............542
6000..............502..............573
6300..............478..............575

Just some thing we threw together, with parts laying around, to test the dyno to about 600 HP. We needed some more compression or a shorter duration cam with more lift.

Next is the 528 all aluminum hemi

Brian whats amazing to me is the 517ft lbs and almost 500hp at 5000 rpm. What a puller! Looks like even 10.00:1 and some cam would be 625hp. Dan

Who's Brian?

Hay Jim, that 451 sounds unappreciated. My Coronet would appreciate it. lol

Rob, I'm sure your Coronet would love it. However it is bound for Cody's '68 Chrysler 4x4 Station Wagon..............Jim

Now you gotta post pics of that thing.

575 HP with a .400 lift cam and 9.5:1???

Whoa!!!

That's .400" LOBE lift. If they ran 1.5 rockers, that's 600 lift at the valve. 1.6s that's .640 lift.

Oh, yeah...

Changes things a bit.

I thought the duration looked a bit wide for that lift.

Still way cool!

I remember when that stroker combo was a big deal...now it is fairly mild compared to some of the stuff out there. Still think it is one of the best "Bang-for-the-buck" combo's-it'll be the one I shove in my '69 Valiant

That's pretty amazing. The max HP was reached at 6300 RPM....wow. Max torque is really high as well. Were those 906's massaged pretty heavily? I'd like to run a similar combination.

As to RPM. The cam was designed for a street 496 that was going to use nitrous. It was never used and set languishing on the shelf, so we just stuffed it in.

Head flows:

89 cfm @ .100"
166 cfm @ .200"
218 cfm @ .300"
258 cfm @ .400"
292 cfm @ .500"
323 cfm @ .600"
332 cfm @ .700"
