Just curious after adding the 46re pan to my 727, will I have to get a filter spacer?

You don't have to have it but it's better because it insures you always have the filter submerged. Hard cornering or hard take offs can uncover the filter if the fluid is a little low
You should but it will work without one so long as you fill the trans to full on the dipstick.

How many quarts do they add from the normal amount?
I'm not sure, I would say 2-3 more qts.
I added this truck pan to mine and I bet it added closer to four quarts. I haven't filled it yet though. I didn't drop the filter either, but I don't do a lot of hard cornering.
