Anyone running this or a 46rh transmission in their a body? I thought about putting one in my 72 dart. Seems like a good idea, 4 speed with overdrive, will turn lower RPMS while cruising. It's a stout transmission, will handle power. Will have to modify tunnel, cross member, and a shorter drive shaft. Does anyone know if one of these will bolt to a LA small block?

Yes it will but as mentioned you will have to modify tunnel, cross member, and a shorter drive shaft

47RH wont,as it was for V10 and Diesel applications. Now you can take the internals and put in the gas model of these.
Even the A500(904 based, or sometimes called 42rh) would work. Both models share the same OD unit, so same tunnel mods would be needed.

No issues here with my A500 and close to 600HP in front of it.

I can take a 46rh and put 47rh internals inside of it. The case is generally the same as well as internals. Only thing different is the strength of the internals.

You will need an extended speedo cable (80 inch) and a different cooler line setup as well as the other mods mentioned.
Our stockers use 5/16 cooler tubing and the others use 3/8 and different fittings.

I changed the fittings at the trans and radiator and ran new 3/8 lines.
No big deal at all.

Just so you know what to expect ahead of time.:D

Thanks!! Not too bad modification wise. Seems very possible.

What all did you do to it?

The A500?,everything. 600HP is nothing. Build a 47/48RE for a Cummins making 2000HP,thats expensive, but its what I do.
Seriously, all reds, reverse servo, direct 24spring assembly(Cope offerings), TFOD shiftkit, with my custom tweaks, Edge racing converter, 3K stall with a lockup and billet cover, cryoed and micropolished input/hub, polished case, 4.2 billet applylever, billet strut, accumulator(4seal), 5 pinion steel overdrive planetary, trans already had 4 pinion steel front planets.

Approximately whats a build like that cost if you don't mind me asking? And I'm guessing you build a bunch of these for a living?

The A500 has a slightly smaller OD main body so they're easier to work around and they don't consume as much HP as a 46 or 47 so their more efficient. IMO if your going to do an OD their the way to go.

How much did it cost you. What's the most hp you would feel comfortable running through it?

Expect to spend upwards of 3K or more, but take out the polished housing, and it could be closer to 2500. How much will it hold, is dependent on traction, hard to put an actual number. I don't see any issue holding 700 with this setup. Will be there one day,we'll see.

Interesting, what is the highest converter Edge makes in a L/U? Also, I'm not familiar yet w/the A500(haven't taken it out of the donor yet), what are You using(or is there one) for the sprag? I'm also curious of an OD gearset not as steep
say, .82-.85, any such animal?

Have to call and ask Andre about stalls for it. A500 has a decent sprag already. No OD changes I've seen available.

Checked Edges site yesterday, looks like the one You've got is it. Over on slantsix.org, a member stated NOBODY will make a higher one than basically what that one is, for
any price........is it housing constraints or a smaller dia. clutch would have to be used w/more apply pressures..too much heat? I kind of figured an alternative OD gearset
wasn't out there, but there's always hope..........

there's only so much room in there. Dodge lockup converters are pretty small for the A500 series.
