Has anyone ran a 48° head on a 59° block? I have a set of W9's that are 48° and a R2 block that is 59°. I heard it is possible

Don’t know.

Slide in a cam, pair of lifters, pair of valves with checking springs, and pushrod length finder on each valve and see if it hits in the pushrod hole in the head (rotate the cam all the way through the lift events). Then see how bad your valve geometry/contact pattern is (or isn’t). You’ll need all of those things to assemble anyway. Head gasket or not, you’ll get close enough to have a rough idea.

It can be done, Mopar Performance used to make a W9 cylinder head for a 59° block. My understanding is that the push rod holes are modified for clearance. I just pick up one that a lifter stopped rolling and hurt the cam. It is a R1 block, 59° W9 heads

Yes it can be done. I had a set of 48* W2’s that were used in a 59* block. You can see the grinding it took to make it work. I ended up selling the heads before I could use them.
