Have a 5.7 out of a 330C. Looks like a factory reman in 2011. Bearings are shot. I was thinking of mounting a Paxton SC on it for my Cuda build. What is a good forged piston to use and are the rods capable of handling another 100-200 HP? If not, what's a good rod replacement? Just going to run 5-8 lbs of boost. TIA :prayer:

I've heard the factory rods were good for around 600 hp before they started getting questionable, but I'm not sure how often people have pushed them there.

Throw the rods in the garbage they are call cracked rods. They are casted as one piece, Machined and then the caps are broke off. They cannot be resized correctly. You can glass bead the break and they will tighten up but only to a point. They are junk. Common Rail diesel's have the same style cracked rods if you need a picture of the difference I have a set in the garage right now. When you would see the difference you will trash them.

That was what I thought. The rod bearings have been hammered out of round. I will look at replacing them. What is a good replacement?:D

I believe Modern Muscle is now making a drop in forged rod/piston combo for the 5.7

Those things are scary.
I remember the first time I saw them from an Intrepid motor, I was like "WTH?".:D
