5.9 Magnum in early "A"

I would like to put a 5.9 Magnum with OD auto trans in my 65 dart. First of all, will the trans fit? Second, what will i need to make it run? Third, I now have a floor shifter which operates the 904 via 2 cables. What will i need to do to shift the trans? Any help / sugestions will be appreciated.

The trans will give you problems. The O/D gear set is put right where the trans crossmember lives and cutting to fit is required. What year is the engine? '96 and up is OBD 2 and the trans is controlled by the computer. '95 down is OBD 1 with just a lockup converter. Either way you will have to use the factory computer and wiring harness cut to fit. The '65 floor shifter shoud work if you have the early style motor and trans. Not sure what you need to hook it up. The exhaust manifolds will work with floor shift. A lot of work but it can be done.
 
Yes..you need to cut the trans tunnel and make a cross member....

If you are running the engine with a carb and distributor, then it bolts in...

there are two types of OD trans....hydraulic shifted over drive( 46RH or 42RH) and the electronic shifted overdrive (46 RE or 42RE (?) ).....the RH version can be made to work..the RE version runs off the computer...
