Hi all,

Curious as to the pros and cons of a 6-pack setup vs. a daul quad setup. I am not saying I am in the market for either one...but some day I may be. I am a big fan of the 6-pack and know the history that surrounds that Mopar setup...but I don't hear much about the dual quad. As for power, response and overall performance- which would be the best setup? Would one be better than the other for a small block?

Thanks in advance for all your opinions!

All I know is the six pack setup has or can be equipped with a progressive linkage. I think someone on here is running one like that where the 2 end 350cfm carbs run constantly and the 500cfm center carb kicks in at WOT
Pretty badass8)

max power would be with the dual quad, the 6 pac intake will hold back power on a stout engine

Hummmmmmmmm

Dual plane dualquad or tunnel ram dualquad?

If my gray matter does not fail me, I recall reading an article on the 440-6. A Chrysler engineer stated that the 3-2 set up was more difficult to screw-up than the 2-4 (in so many words). For sure the 2 bbl is harder to screw up than a 4 bbl.

While Mopar didn't make a 2-4 LA V-8, the aftermarket still has in-line 2-4s available. The coolest of the bunch, IMHO, is the old Edelbrock STR-12. I've only seen one with my own eyes, but the WOW factor on this is high. If you find one, expect to pay $2000 & > for it.

ive never run a sixpac, but it seems like it would be more "street friendly".however i do currently run a 2 4bbl t-ram with good results.and thats with mech secondary carbs.it would run better i think with vs carbs.a t-ram set up also costs less than a 3x2bbl,but requires more tuning.

I'm running two Carter 500's on an Edelbrock D66 intake and love it. Never tried the 6 pack, I'm greedy and wanted 8 barrels, lol.

I removed the secondary--front--air valve, the back carb runs the motor most of the time. The front carb idle circuits are in, I keep both carbs equally tuned.

The D66 has small 273/318 ports, only neg, yet maybe it was why I could remove the front air valve. That an the 10 inch converter and 3.91 gears.

I believe a D66 is for sale on here, if I had extra $ I get another one but I got all these bills from engine rebuild time

Those intakes were the rage back in the mid to late 60's, you might find more in old rod rod mags from those years. When the 70's started people got brainwashed that one big 4 barrel was better, ha ha. Its cheaper that is no debate.
