63 Dodge Dart, now let me see;)

Wrong !
The filler mates to the inside of the trunk . With the tank in the filler inserted into the tank then pulled out to meet the gasket and fender inside the trunk .

EZ pee zee . No need to mess with the nip

Starting to get the gas tank and other items in. but how do I go about getting this gas neck in? Do I cut this little vent thing off and tap it for another vent thingy? I guess I could just cut enough off for it to go through the body? I do have a gasket to go between it and the body.
:realcrazy:

I have a 64, 65, and 66 I can check in the morning for orientation. I just replaced the tank on my 66, and the entire filler tube is inside the trunk. I think you are trying to put it in from the wrong side. The gasket goes on the inside between the tube flange and the fender skin then the screws come from the outside to hold it in place. It was kinda a PITA to get in there because I had to get the tube started into the tank (grease is your friend here!) then fiddle it to the fill hole while getting the tank and strap secured. IIRC it took a helper to get it done.

Edit: Treed by @GGs66GT !

Thanks guys :thankyou: I went back into my gazzilion pictures, I’m such a geek sometimes. I was “this close” to cutting the darned thing!:realcrazy:

I didn't think I'd ever find that little vent tubing! lol All n all, looks pretty good. Waiting on 5/16 metal fuel line, and now to work on the sender/aftermarket gas gauge soon. I haven't installed the sender yet~ I really need the dash back out of the Dart to have access to the back of the fuel gauge. I found my gas cap, needs a gasket, then I can blast it and paint it matt black. ;)

other than that, Gary n I went to fight our property taxes earlier today~ they raised our taxes an incredible amount~ those people are zombies (3 "normal"people and an appraisal guy(never once looked up) and didn't give an inch. Gary worked so hard to put together comparables, etc, they barely looked at the hard work Gary put in. I could have crawled under the table! sigh

Those appraisers are real life snakes in the grass. I went toe-to-toe with mine and the tax review board a few years back. I told them if they thought my property was worth that much, they should be willing and ready to cut me a check. The appraiser held his ground but the review sided with me and put it back where it was. Small town politics-everyone loses!!

Finally got the dash speakers in~ connected a battery and connected to my iphone via bluetooth. Sounds really good! the cloth covering came from my lingerie drawer

Hey when you put the sending unit in the gas tank DO not use a aftermarket tank ring re use yours they will leak due to being to thin. I still have a few NOS stashed if you threw yours out.

Same here in my 66 V8 swap I have been doing and now enjoyed driving Victoria this year, a 7 year update slowed by loosing my 3 brothers during these 7 years, all 3 and Nella ride with me, Nella being @cosgig sweet doughter we lost just moths ago.

Yes, Hoppy is correct, save yours or get intouch with him, he has saved me a few headaches, my son did his 73 charger tank and first thing he did was laid the original ring outside with his old tank, When his new sender and tank came in we compared them, Thanks dad he said, I hung it on my peg boad and he didn't know it, ring was twice as thick.

This build thread and Dart is one of my favorites, good job , your northeast Arkansas fan memike

OMG, the dart looks like it would be road worthy, but alas is not, there's still much to do. I still haven't ordered my AC evaporator yet~ sometimes it's just hard to push the buy it now button for things I need. guilt perhaps. I'm also still searching for seats~ the ones I have are just not good enough. I've been looking at the SRT Challenger seats, but looking only.

Hey, it's looking like road test time is coming!

Thank you so much Mike~ I've had a circus ride on this build, but Thanks to so many people have helped me make it happen;) Your 66 is so beautiful~ and I'm so sorry about Nella, breaks my heart:(

Just spoke with Ray, he's a really neat guy. Ordered the retainer ring for my sender switch ~ Thank you again Ray :thankyou: :thankyou:

No, but it'd be easy enough to lower it down a tad, what kind of pad? Like jute padding like under carpet? I have some of that laying around.

Did you insert a pad between the top of the gas tank and the body? That will prevent abrasion and some rattling.

The Dart Look's Great with those wheels and tires !
Kinda like the one I spotted years ago .

I have a soft spot for the '63 and '64 Front Clip after all I had a '63 and 2 '64's .
Gee I wonder how a '64 GT front clip would look on a '66 GT ? Oh well that's what dreams are made of .
