63 Dodge Dart, now let me see;)

Kind of a funny thing, Icetech had posted a video of slant6 for me, a very good documentary and that post vanished!! It was really good Icetech :thankyou:

yeah, I've been watching some videos on this. I'm going to pull the brakes apart soon and see what it would take, if I can even perform the re-arching.
Thanks Ray and Glen too :thankyou:

You are going to hate me but the shoes must be matched to the drums in diameter.

D easiesest way now is take some say 220 psa paper stick it on the inside of the drum and put it back on the axel adjust the brakes and spin it. Will contour the shoes to the drum.

Your pictures show the shoes riding a tad high. Tap them down just a hair. The wear is on top only. If it was a different arc, they would either rub near center only, or both top and bottom. I think they're just not centered in the drum. If you can press the brakes with the drums on, they will center themselves.

That’s a good point , seeing as how I haven’t even put the brake pedal to the brakes. Waiting on brake fluid.

Well, that's actually something I didn't know existed! For fun now n then I look a brake lathes. Most auto parts don't turn drums/rotors around here. Even a local auto repair place said they don't have a lathe and always replace the drums n rotors! What a waste! replacing them with C parts:(

Still waiting on brake fluid~ Gary says just go buy some~ I'd rather just wait on Amazon to deliver:lol:

It is a waste. Every muffler, brake and oil change place used to have some kind of turning device. I've seen some interesting homemade ones in my lifetime. Later some rotors were made with a bevel. When you got to the bevel they were done. It's a shame really. We had Hamilton Brother's Auto Parts owned by Cecil and Donnie Hamilton. They were the greatest. Cecil would open up on Sunday if you came to his house and needed a part. They had a machinist in the shop doing, brake drums, rotors, re arching, alternators, starters engines...whatever you needed. Now we have 3 parts stores that do nothing but maybe check your battery or run codes for you.

Eegods, I hope I did this correctly, wasn't bad at all. I have some straight line sanding paper which fit the drum depth perfectly. Just rub back n forth~ and there it is;)

OK now here's what you do to adj. the brakes properly on a posi. First loosen the emergency brake cable a lot. Pull the levers (on the shoes) on both sides to make sure the e brake is fully off. Then one side at a time and only one brake drum at a time. After you have loosened up the e brake push the shoes together to seat them, use the drum to help center them. Rotating forward only adj. them to a slight drag. Do not adj. the e brake yet. You must drive the car for a few miles 5-10 to seat the drums to the shoes, at this time the pedal will be low so be careful. Return to your shop and do it all over again. Your pedal should be right on top, high. Test drive again if all is OK then adj, the e brake if not re-adjust again till you get a good adjustment. You may not get it correct the first time as there is a certain feel to it.so just re adj. again as required. Again, the last thing to do is adj, the e. brake.

Thank you, that's a nice write-up :thankyou:
