Hi, all, and thanks for the add.
I'm working on a '63 Valiant project car.
I have a question about 9" front drums. My parts manual lists a hub and drum for Cal. built cars as (right) 2072 794 and (left) 2072 795. I see no listing for the drum or the hub alone.
However, all the online vendors I've been to so far list a 9"×2 1/2" drum (correct dimensions) but without a hub, for example:

So, are the hub & drum seperable?

TIA,

Rich

The drum is swedged onto the hub. That said if you press the studs out you can open the holes in the hub so that new studs won't stay in. The right way is to drill out the drums close to the studs so the swedging on the studs is removed and they will press out of the hub without damaging it. The catch is the only swedge cutter you can get anymore is for 1/2" studs. You can cut them off and then grind them out of the drum first....

Here is the 1/2" that is still available but the A bodies use a 7/16"

10 or so years ago, I paid my local driveline shop to cut the swedges out for the first drum that had to be replaced on my dart.

I had them replace all of the studs on that side at the same time

The replacement drum fit well.

After I converted to disc's a few years ago, I sold the drum setup here, one side swedged, the other side not.

On my 64 Fury, b-body but same issue.
I cut the studs off right up against the drums.
Even after that, the drums fought back a little, bent one drum iirc.

Ground the studs down to the hub, popped right out with a few taps of a flathead screwdriver, the only good use for a flathead.

Put new studs in, later studs without the swedge for the drums, and bought later drums that slide on and off.

I use a 5/8" metal cutting hole saw and cut completely through the old drum and barely scratch the hub surface. The drum will separate from the hub. The new drum simply slips over the studs on the hub. No need to swedge the new drum as the wheel holds the drum on when the lug nuts are tightened.

Thanks, everyone, for clearing up the mystery.
Right now, it's all going together as is, so I can drive it around the yard. There are a lot of issues to work on before I put it on the road, so new drums will be down the road a bit.

As you found out, Mopar only sold them as a hub and drum assembly. Neither were sold by them separately. The aftermarket only sold the drums, no hubs, so, you had to do as the others have mentioned here.
