Was there a standard drum brake size for our cars? I’ve seen spare parts for both 9” and 10” drums. I assume the engine option would dictate the drum size?

Any reason a 1965 Valiant with the 170cid six would have anything but 9” brakes?

Looks like 10" front, rear AND front disk were available in 65. So basically if it was an option you could get it. With some limited exceptions.

Easy enough to find out. Pull a drum and measure the inside diameter.
I was hoping I could order parts without having to go to the car to pull a drum. The garage is half an hour drive from where I live. But if I have to, I have to :)

My 65 Cuda has the optional tow package with 3.23 gears but came with 9inch drums. I made the mistake of ordering 10 inch stuff and not measuring since I was sure a V8 commando with a tow package would have 10's. Measure!

Yep, always check first before ordering stuff. Chrysler could have used anything they had available back in the day. Many of us have seen this first hand.

Same here. I had a '65 Dart Charger 273 A/C car with 9" manual drum all the way around.
