The 3.09 low is a gangbusters starter gear. With 3.55s it takes off like 4.12s. This is dynamite good for nearly all sbms.
Conversely,you could run a 3.23 rear, and your car will take off like it had 3.73s, and still cruise at 65mph=2600rpm.This is the next best thing to running a 5spd.
The mainshaft and tail can be swapped out for the later slip-yoke style.Your later synchronizers can be directly swapped in.
Whoever gets this ratio, will never be sorry.

So this will hook up to my push button tranny okay and work with my 273?

My tranny seems fine though it does kinda of lurk or jerk when taking from putting it into drive or reverse from park... ... ... Not sure why but my knowledge is limited here.

That is a manual 4 speed transmission, not an automatic.
