I'm sure I missed it but I did search the site for it before asking...

is their a direct swap 8 3/4 from another vehicle?
What year/ make am I looking for?

There is a local guy clearing out some transmissions and rear ends- I want to call him and ask but don't want to sound like too much of a noob!

Im pretty sure I seen this same topic covered but for the life of me: I can't find it.

Thanks for any help

Karl

just use the search function and type in "7.25 8.75 swap", or something along those lines...you'll get a ton of results! :)

Any "A" 8 3/4 will work, youll know its an A if it has the solid rear cover and Small bolt pattern 5 on 4, all did. Youll need to shorten driveshaft too, about 3" but measure first.

The 8.75 rear axle is unique to Mopar. Also when swapping in an 8.75 axle from another size, you'll need a shorter driveshaft.

You're looking for a 64-72 Dart or Valiant or a 64-69 Barracuda. Generally these cars had a 273 4 bbl 4-speed, a 340, or an HD rear axle.
