I am looking for a 4bbl intake manifold for an early 273 from 64 or 65. If I can't find one locally, I'd like to know how to modify the bolt angles to make a 67 cast iron intake work on a 64 engine. Has anyone done this or know where to find info on it? Thanks in advance.

Trying to find in in all his books, he's seen it, not sure where

All you do is set it on the motor. There are like 3 on the drivers side I believe. But you'll find them when you set it on there. And you just have to re-drill them to that angle.

65B-cudadude. Have you done that before or hear it done,or read it somewhere? I am wanting to read something where someone has done it before I destroy a good manifold. Thanks

Look online (ebay etc). I found a Eddy D4B (coorect for 64/65 with the proper 5/16 bolt angles. It's the best intake for the 64/65 273 with those unique heads. I was going to go the newer intake route as well but you have to hog out the holes and then spot face them. After all of that you still could have vacume leak city....not worth it. look for a period correct piece.

you can still buy a brand new 4 bbl intake for the early 64/65 273 heads,,from offenhauser,, they have 5 intakes to choose from,,i have posted this info before,,with all the prices i will try to find the list,,you may be able to do a search on summitracing,,,offy doesnt have a web site,,, if your serious about buying a new one i can give you a phone number of a guy that is a small time distributor of offy products,,i had offy valave covers made recently from offy thru him,,,he had the best pricing ,,,alll offys products from the old days are available if they have the mold,,,

fstfish66,
Thanks, but I am not looking for a new one. I'd buy a good used one if I had the funds. I am just looking to use what I have or can get my hands on in trade. Thanks Anyone have a used one to sell?

ok,, watch E BAY they come up once in a while,,,there was one for sale on this site for the longest time,,search the old for sale pages,,,

fstfish is correct, I saw a wicked little offy dual quad set up for an early 273 on Ebay.........anyone know how you would get that to flow on a little 273 without $$$$$$$$$$$head work?

I'll let you know when I fire mine up

I'd have to sell the edlebrock 340 torker that I have been holding onto for no good reason if I wish to purchase another manifold. I wouldn't want a 2-4bbl set-up offy. Just a single carb, dual plane manifold for the early 273.

These guys offer it for sale:

The pdf catalog takes a bit to download. I think the Offy single 4bbl runs about $350, kinda pricey, but they're the only one offering one, so my hat's off to them.

Second to the Edelbrock D4B the Offy manifold is a good compromise. That Torqer will kill your low end torque.

64x2 Yes I did. Did you read what I wrote to another member? "Thanks, but I am not looking for a new one. I'd buy a good used one if I had the funds. I am just looking to use what I have or can get my hands on in trade. Thanks"
I can't buy anything until I sell the 340 torker intake, but I do have a67 4bbl manifold that I coudl modify, if I knew how. thanks for the help.

May I suggest the dual 1150 Dominators.....she'll be a little sluggish out of the hole, but around 9500 RPM's......hold on!:toothy10:
