There's a local ad for a '65 Barracuda with a 273 V-8 and I'd was considering getting it to put the 273 in my '66 Valiant convertible that currenly has a slant six. I figured that would be one way to get all of the stuff I need for the V-8 conversion. I was wondering what would be different between the '65 Barracuda and '66 Valiant? ('65 cable shift trans vs '66, u-joint vs. pot joint & drive shaft) Or if there's anything else I might need, such as '66 V-8 wiring? Is it not worth the trouble?

I think you've got a good handle on the basics like the U joint & trans. Might be a different trans mount but I can't remember for sure. With the two cars you should have everything you need. I wouldn't think the wiring would need to be swapped. If you part out the 65 I'd be interested in parts.

Go for it if it,s a running car.The parts you will need are getting expensive or hard to find.I,m hoping the Cuda is rotted,it would be a shame to part out a decent 65 Cuda.Good Luck!!

Im not 100% on this but the u joint on the trans for the 65 might be the ball and trunion type.
