65-67 B body 8 3/4 rear in 76 duster wheel/tire combo.

Hi. I have a 76 duster with a 8 3/4 rear end from a 65-67 b-body(54.25" flange to flange width) . I am looking for wheel and tire combos that fit. I currently have 245/60/14 tires on 14x7 rims. I would like to upgrade to 15 inch wheels. Tell me what fits ! Thanks for any help !
 
I had a 68 barracuda with a B body rear end and I ran 15x8 inch rims with a 5 inch back space, it used up the extra space in the wheel house with the back space, but had a shallow depth on the outside.

They are 5 inch back space, bad camera angle in that picture. Just used for a reference.
 
I ran factory 75-79 Charger/Cordoba 15x6.5 rallye wheels on my duster with that axle.

It looked like it should have come from the factory that way.

The rear wheels tracked exactly like the front.
 
I like those wheels. I am looking at the torq-thrust style wheels. Are those wheels 8" wide bead to bead, or overall width ? What size tires did you run ? I only have about 4" from the drum to the inside edge of the wheelhouse. Thanks
Yes they are 8 inches bead to bead, I ran 255/60's on them. They are American racing torque thrust D's.
 
With a Duster you can run 275/60/15’s on 8” wide rims with the leaf springs in their stock locations. The 65-67 B body 8 3/4 just changes the backspace that you need. I run a 68-70 B body 8 3/4 in my ‘74 Duster. It’s 60 1/8” wide drum to drum, compared to the 59 1/2” drum to drum for the 65-67. So, 5/8” wider overall, or 5/16” (8mm) per side.

Now, I have a 1/2” spring offset and another 1/2” cut out of the quarter lips, so I can’t just knock 5/16” off the 7” of backspace I run on my 18x10’s.

But through the magic of offset (instead of backspace), and the fact that I know my wheels are almost perfectly centered in the wheel tubs (they have to be with 295’s), it’s easy to calculate. I run a 38mm offset on my 18x10’s. The 65-67 B rear is 8mm per side narrower, so that’s 30mm. Offset is a centerline measurement so it isn’t effected by changes in width. So, a 15x8 with 30mm of offset will be centered. That’s 5.7” of backspace.

So, 15x8’s with 5.7” of backspace (or a 30mm offset) should let you run 275’s. That’s down to body tolerances. These cars aren’t perfect and they aren’t all the same, so you have to measure your car. I’d be looking for a 15x8 with 5.75” or more of backspacing, then use spacers to correct. Or run 255’s, which should give you a bigger range. 255’s should work with a 15x8 and 5.5” to 6” of backspace. Give or take depending on your cars tolerances. And all of that depends on you having moved the b-body perches to A-body specs.

With a spring relocation I have a 10 inch wheel with 7.5 BS and 10.5 tires. Same width B rear. I have room to spare. Only 26 inch tall tires though...I would have to look at my height.
 
Thanks for all the help guys. I am looking online for torq-thrust style wheels 15x8 with 30mm offset and i am not finding them. Not enough back-spacing or offset. I can find 16x7 with 35mm offset though. Any ideas ?

For that kind of backspace on a 15x8” wheel you usually have to pay for a custom backspace, off the shelf stuff usually doesn’t come that way. I believe you can get some of the torque thrust style wheels with custom backspacing.

Or go 17’s. 16’s are even worse for rim and tire availability than 15’s.
