Did some searching on the forum and didn't see what I was looking for, might have missed it so on to my question:

The cover of my heater box (65' Barracuda), big hole to air hole in car. My brother and I were wondering what some of you have used to seal this up. The rubber ring that originally held it on is too damaged to reuse. He has some ideas but wanted me to ask this group first. Any input would be appreciated.

Detroit Muscle Technologies sells the seal and full heater box rebuild kits.

Long ago I used self adhesive foam insulation tape, 1/2" should work. It breaks down eventually and lets the vent jiggle around. They have it at Home Depot, O'Reilly's etc.
Last time I used caulk cord. Worked great. It's like a non-hardening clay rope for sealing windows.

I'd have to ask him, but I would bet that one of these is what my brother's idea was, great minds! Appreciate it!
