I'm trying to figure out how to repaint the rear window trim on my '65 Formula S. I'd like to know what colors I can use to paint the "V" in the center. I found some vinyl on eBay that is supposed to work, but I don't know if the color is correct or not. Really, I would like to paint it anyway, but have no clue what I could use for the blue.

Then I need some idea on where the black goes. I have the outside figured out, but I can't figure out if the "squares" shown in the yellow box should be painted or even if they should be painted at all!

I tried painting the black a couple different ways. The piece on the top was painted with flat black and I like it the best, but I don't think it's correct. The piece on the bottom was painted the same way and then the top of the "squares" was wiped off. That really looked like crap though.

I'm begining to think that the "squares" shouldn't be painted at all. That sounds like a PITA to mask, but I really want it right.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Here is a picture of the ones i restored on my 64 cuda. Actually used blue and red vinyl tape on the V. Did all the black highlites with semi gloss paint.

That really looks great! The cheap side of me is reluctant to buy a few cents worth of vinyl for $15 and then another $5 to ship.. LOL...

Thanks.
I actually picked my tape up at a local aces hardware store. The two small rolls were about $3 total.
