I appreciate it guys. The compliments make the build even better. I've been asked by some on how tight is the engine compartment, hope these help. Next move is to start the paint and detail the engine bay. I know the car being a V200 series came with seat belts, and because of the Grandfather Laws, they were optional, and didn't have to be installed, but the WIFE Laws said hell no. lol. Not sure why the pics won't post correctly.

Late to the party, but here now... LOL
I know its an early 361 because of the 4 bolt valve covers. What you wrote sounds like you built it right. It definitely looks very tight in the engine compartment, expecially to the steering shaft. Curious as to which exhaust manifolds you used. What application are they from?
What you didn't mention about the engine build was whether you had the 383 crank balanced as a new rotating assembly.

Mike in FL

The manifolds are 440hp from 68/69 b-body. The crank/piston asm was balanced as a rotating assembly. The 383 is a late 60's forged with matching rods. Pistons are new .030 JE flat tops. Motor was built 18yrs ago and has less than 2hrs on it. I'm actually amazed that the rings hadn't collapsed from the lack of run time. She's virtually complete, lacking the exhaust system, then its to the street for some travel time to work out any details that will come up.

Thanks guys for the compliments. I'm ready for it to warm up a little to enjoy a drive in the sun. She'll be ready to bring the new baby home in April and make the NoPi show in Myrtle Beach in late July.

The chrome trim around the windows are stock. Most of the time people remove the trim because it generally hides rust and really hard to replace if damaged. My chrome pieces are by far from perfect, they have dents and dings in them but I really wanted to keep them. The trim down the side is the 65 V200 trim which you may find on the web, good luck finding it new though. The chrome trim may be apart of the V200 trim package, but I'm not sure. Is your Valiant a 65 or 64, 2dr/4dr? I can check with a fella that is on FB that buys them up every chance he gets and may have the trim. I just installed the Commando V8 emblems this past weekend as well.

Got my new emblems in and mounted. Coming together super fast. New Mickey Thompson ET Streets 245/40r18 mounted and gonna be installed very soon.
