has 3.23 gears non posi.... sbp...good deal? what's teh average price for a non posi? this is also w/o shipping...

For just the center that is about $400 to high. Come to think of it I gave one away last year.

Seems high to me. Highway gears with no suregrip, but I guess this is what its coming to. You better check the shipping before you pull the trigger on buying it. It could be alot. If you have 400 or less HP an 8 1/4 rear will serve you just as well for less than half the price. Just my opinion. Mike

The 741 is the small pinion shaft, the 742 is larger but for older B-bodies and C,the 742 case is beefier but remember it's still not a posi..........

it's a 489 case..it comes with everything but the brake hardware

Well, look at it this way, you'll only be burning one rubber at a time and your getting the complete rear end! I thought you were just getting the carrier at that price and that's why I figured it was not cheap. :pain10:

$650 for a 3.23 Non-Sure Grip is high in my opinion.

I'd keep shopping.

I think it's a very high for for a non-posi (US dollars at that!) . I would surely look around more...or pehaps even post in the wanted parts section what you would like to buy and see what happens. In Canada I paid 500.00 for a 742 sure-grip, 3:23 brake to brake. Then bought a 741 3:91 Sure-grip pumpkin for 400.00 (maybe "I" was just lucky).

Just my thoughts.

Thats a terrible price. I sold a open 2.76 489 case for $60. Used, yea, but ran just fine. You better be getting a brand new/rebuilt suregrip with brand new gears setup for that price.

it's on EBAY!! put in 8 3/4 and look..it's like 649.99 unless someones bid on it

i bought 4 and bthey ere all messed up..euther looked bad or they gave me the wrong gearing..tryin' to keep my options open

yeah..he's too pricey..just has to search deeper..thanks guys

Well I guess that would depend on where you are located. I am picking up a complete (to include the tires and rims) open diff for $125. Just waiting for the weather to clear a little.
