Hello FABO,
My Cuda has the original 2bbl 273 engine with the 904 trans. I put new 15” wheels, front disc and a new rear end. So I know it’s no longer an “original” 66 but I’m thinking about rebuilding the 273 so I was wanting to get some advice on what I could do to give it more horsepower. And I’m not looking for advice about a 318, 340 or 360. I appreciate the advice….

Add s 4 barrel intake eould give it some additional pep. Should you be looking for an original 66 Commando intake, I have one

A slightly hotter cam, like what came on the 4bbl engine, a 4bbl carb and intake naturally, and the HiPo exhaust that came on the Commando cars would wake it up nicely. I'd go with a dual point or electronic ignition too. If this is not a freeway cruiser, putting in a lower gear ratio ring and pinion would get you off the line a lot quicker. If you have a 7 1/4 rear, I would suggest getting a heavier duty rear end while you're upgrading if your "new rear end" isn't one already.
