Hey guys, I'm just looking for pictures of how your dual exhaust looks underneath the car. In paticular the tail pipes. I've got a 66 commando S car and want to put duals on at the beginning of next week.

Can anyone confirm that the pipe coing off the manifold is 1 7/8. I then would plan on stepping it up to 2" then 2 1/4" for the final (all the way out the back)

Any help is appreciated!!

Two issues back in mopar action was a 64 that had duals, but the guy mentioned it took 3 tries for the muffler shop to get it right. Im considering going with singal exhuast to play out the sleeper thing abit. Im a few years off from needing exhuast so im no help.

I'll try to take some photos of the tailpipes on my 66. You have to promise not to laugh at how rusty they are, though! I am currently running a 318 manifold from a 69 a-body on the driver's side, although it's off the car at the moment. I'm pretty sure it's 1 7/8". I don't know about an original early a manifold. I am running 2 inch headpipes that go into 2 1/4 pipes after a couple feet.

As others have said, you will have to modify your crossmember to accomodate duals. I did mine about 15 years ago, long before TTI thought of it! :)

i am lookng forward to the pictures you will post. I already have a crossmember modified to get the pipes up close to the floor boards. My primary interest is how the tail pipes look going over the axle, mostly on the passenger side.

Thanks, looking forward to seeing the pics!

Here you go. I took a bunch of photos, but I'l only post the ones of the passenger side tailpipe over the axle since that's what you specifically asked for. Let me know if you want to see more photos. I learned something about my exhaust while taking these photos. I thought that the pipes were mandrel bent. As you can see by the photos, they aren't. I've been on the fence about buying TTI headers & exhaust. This is making me lean toward going for it.

Thanks Lee,

How do you like the KYB's? that' what i have too, but haven't ever tried them yet!

Thanks for the pics and if you do feel like posting the rest I will gladly look at them too. The car goes in this wednedsay (on the trailer still!!!) for the duals and the more info I can give them the better! Once i have it back a few things to do and Ican break in the motor and finally get driving this car!

Thanks again,

Steve

Hi Lilcuda,
Thanks for posting these pictures. I would like to see the down pipes from the exhaust manifolds down and out toward the transmission cross member.

Having said that, i read that you are getting some TTI's soon. Are you interested in selling the down pipes that you currently have with your existing exhaust? I am interested in the part from the manifold back to the transmission cross member...

Thank you!

The KYB's are OK. Probably not the best, but there aren't many choices for shocks for the early a bodies. Maybe there are more choices now, but when I rebuilt the suspension in the early 90's, KYB's were it.

If I get a chance, I'll post the other photos, at least the interesting ones.

No problem posting the photos. I only have a picture of the right side downpipe, the driver's side is on the garage floor at the moment. I'll try to post what I have tonight if I get a chance.

I'll be interested in selling my existing setup once I put headers on. I'm not buying headers anytime in the very near future. I have to save up the money first. I've been debating on whether to keep my exhaust and buy Doug's headers or go for the whole setup from TTI. Not only am I waiting to save up the money, but I'm waiting to hear other peoples experience with the TTI setup before I take the plunge.

Here are some more photos, including the passenger side downpipe.
