When I take a car apart, I take pictures, draw pictures, write careful notes and carefully label everything. Then I put parts in baggies that are labeled and put those in another clear bag. For instance, I might have a Clear freezer bag labeled "Right door" It would be full of baggies that contained smaller parts, and each baggie is also labeled. Larger right door parts are properly labeled and kept together so that all right door parts will always be together. My friend Mark doesn't do that. When I help him reassemble a car, finding every part is an adventure. It could be in any one of 10 or 12 storage containers that are not marked.
