Well, here goes.
Up for sale is my 66 Dart GT with the original HP273,833,8 3/4 Sure Grip. It's one of 1237 66 GT/HP273/ 4 speed cars produced. I found a 64 Polara which I have always wanted and I only have storage room for 2 cars. I have owned this car for 20 years and it has been a good car and a lot of fun. I built the 273 about 15 years ago and I will post a link below to my build thread. I also have a thread when I had the lower quarters and trunk extensions fixed. Let's see, where do I start?
The original 273 was removed, cleaned, bored .030 (EGGE HP pistons), machined, crank turned .010/.010, the heads were milled, new valves, springs and ported. It has a solid lifter Isky E4 cam and it really runs good. It get's about 18 mpg on the highway and I have driven it to Mopar's in the Park many times. (a 4 hour drive) It's a great driver and comfortable on the highway. All the build info and minor details is in the build thread. The original dual point is used and works well. Halifaxhops stocks all the distributor parts when it's time for a tune up. I replaced the original Carter AFB with a 600 Edelbrock carb. The original car will be included. The fuel lines were replaced as well as the tank and sender. (Tanks Inc) The fuel gauge works and is fairly accurate. The 273 has the correct "Charger 273" valve covers (restored by Leanna RIP) and the chrome air cleaner. I replaced the starter with a late model mini and dressed up the battery with a sticker and cap kit from Westkar.
The exhaust was replaced with the correct HP single system with the stainless resonator tip from Accurate LTD. There is a link to a You tube video below to show you how it sounds.
The transmission was inspected and resealed.. Sometime in it's history, a Hurst shifter replaced the stock Inland .
The 8 3/4 is the original with a 3:23 gear. The original rear springs were weak and saggy and were replaced with 5 leaf ESPO springs.
The wheels and tires are 15" and were purchased from a member here. The fronts are 15x4.5 with 165/80-15 tires and the rears are 15x7's with 235/70-15 tires. The tires are all in very good shape. The Halibrand clone wheels are so period correct. The original 14x5.5" wheels and tires will be included. The suspension and steering was rebuilt years ago (not many miles) by a local dealer. The car has the Rallye suspension option which includes front sway bar and the wider wheels. The shocks were new at that time.
Back when I bought it, all the brakes were new including the lines.
The GT interior (bucket seat, console) was renewed with Legendary covers, front and rear. The dash pad, door panels, and carpet are all original and in very nice shape. The headliner stitching came loose in the rear and I haphazardly stitched it together. I will try to get a photo or two in the next few days.
The body is in good shape. As mentioned before, I had the lower quarters and trunk drops repaired as well as the wheel arch on the drivers side. The repair thread shows all the details. The drivers front fender needs some repair. Sometime in the car's history it was replaced with a red fender and there is a rust hole in the top (under the hood) about the size of a 50 cent piece. As far as I can tell, at that time, the car was repainted the original color but they used lacquer and the paint is now dead. Call it patina. It gives it a fun look and attitude. All the chrome is in real good shape. If there was a dented piece, I tried to find a good one and replaced it. The car was originally a black vinyl top car but it was in bad shape so I scraped it off. Also the bumpers were rechromed by AIC in Dubuque.
Just for fun, whether it means anything to you or not, the previous owner had Galen Govier do his search thing and I have all that paperwork. There is a breakdown of the VIN, fender tag and the build sheet which I have.
Well, that's about it. If I remember any more details I will add them. I will try to answer questions either here or through a PM.
The car has been a great driver and very dependable. No issues, breakdowns, or towing needed. (except to bring it home) If you are not too far away, I wouldn't hesitate driving it home. Across country, use your own judgement. A trailer is usually the best bet. It's not perfect but it's such a fun driver and it's time someone else can enjoy it.
I am asking $17,800 for it. I am located in North East Iowa, 4 hours south of Minneapolis, 4 hours west of Chicago, and 4 hours NE of Omaha.
I will advertise here for a week before I open it up to the other sites.

273 Build
An 861 Power Pack option. That's what it is! I have had a few of you ask me to keep up on my 273 build. I have butted in other peoples threads from time to time with comments and a photo or two. It's time start from the beginning with the story and photos. I am far from done at this point. The...

66 Dart lower quarter and trunk drop repair
I have done quite a bit of mechanical but I have never done body work. I thought it would be a good time to get some lower quarter rust repair done on my 66 Dart. A local body shop on my tool route was chosen and I dropped the car off. Well, the procedure hasn't gone perfectly smooth but I am...
