I'm really diggin' the 67-69 fastback Barraduda's lately , preferably the 68's. What I was wondering what are the differences, besides the years? Is it the grills, tail lights, etc... ??

Grills, tail lights and rear trim, side marker lights or lack of in 67, windshield and rear window trim (67), Emblems placement. Hood and front panel on 69.

Same for the inside... Small changes.

Without getting in to mechanical things.... Its mostly small cosmetics.

No side markers in '67, round ones in '68, rectangular in '69. Interior door lock buttons were in different places, possibly outside rearview mirror locations were different also (brain fade on that one). '68 had upper and lower dash pads, '67 and '69 had upper only. '67 had the 'hard back' bucket seats, '68 and '69 were similar except upholstery and '69 had mandantory headrests after Jan.1, I believe. Lots more small details that I can't remember right now.

`67: Egg-Crate grill-no side marker lights-seperate small reverse lights on either side of the license plate-thin solid trunk trim running down the center-plastic windshield & back window trim

`68: Vertical ribs for grill-round marker lights-like the `67 it has hood inserts- upper & lower aluminum trunk trim-reverse lights incoporated into taillights-stainless steel windshield & rear window trim

`69: Egg crate grill shaped more like a Y in the cetner when viewed from the front, instead of an X like the 67-8's- hump in the header panel and the hood is flat without hood inserts (hood is the same as a `74 Dart BTW...) rectangluar marker lights, revers lights return to either side of the license plate, only larger than the `67's- HUGE red taillight lenses- larger aluminum trunk trim running across the center, like a `67, only wider

These are very broad strokes, but this will give you a "spotters guide" for the 3 years. And yes, `68's are the best..... :-D

I will add my 2 cents... 68 is the first year for the 340 and it was only available in the Formula S. In 69 the 340 was available in the base model, Formula S, and the newly introduced 'Cuda package.

69 M code big block car was the 1st to drop the Barra and be called `cuda.
There are design changes that went in the 68 and back out agian for 69.
The improvements for 68 I can think of that stayed were the suspensions idler arm, the gas tank straps, side marker lights, and horn button.

69 Barracuda doors had the lock moved up 6 inches forward or so. I guess it makes it a little harder to use a coat hanger to open them.

Actually the 'cuda name came in 68. An ad stated" take a barracuda, give it a formula S package and call it King Cuda". Not the cuda package though like DGC said.

I have noticed that a few people have refered to the 69 as having side lights. The ones I have and have seen are reflectors. Just wondering if they had a light option for the side lights. I'd like to put some in if they did.

you are correct in '69 they were reflectors only.

67 is the only year that had "PLYMOUTH" lettering going all the way across the front end.

Really!! So they added wiring and put bulbs in the little round ones in 68 and elminated the wiring and just had reflectors in 69!

1968 was the only year for the SS option. Meaning a HEMI.

The nice thing about having a large comunity meet at a place like this is you don't have to look hard for some things. In the photo gallery I found a good view of both th 68 & 69.

Yeah... thanks.. The 69 has a very different look to it than the 67 and 68.

This is not mine.

Now that is different! lol

If I am not mistaken, starting in 1970, all side marker "lights" had to be working lights and not reflectors. This doesn't mean they couldn't be lit before then. I also believe this was the first year that required the ignition steering column lock. Since I have a 63 Dart, I don't have any side reflectors at all and it does concern me a little at night because you really can't see the car from the side when it is dark. I have seen pictures of swedish models that have a marker light on the side of the front fender and I assume that was due to their regulations requiring some sort of side marker at least in the front. I would like to find a set of lit side markers that would suit my car style and not look too out of place just to add some extra safety at night.

The little round side marker lights are mopar correct and too easy to add-on. 1&3/8' holesaw if my memory serves correct.
For your 63 the front ones would probably look more correct with clear lenses rather than amber. Changing the lenses and/or bulb sockets in those round fixtures is easy enough too. Just a suggestion :)
